There has been a demand for long that Facebook should have a ‘dislike’ button; or ,an option to downvote a post like Reddit has, which will reduce the visibility of the post.  Reports suggest  that the platform is planning to introduce a ‘downvote’ button for comments.  When you tap on that button, the comment is hidden.  It will also give users an option to mark that comment as ‘Offensive’,’misleading’ and ‘Off topic’.  Facebook is testing this new feature on a small number of users in the US,for comments on a limited set of public page posts.  The company is wary of publishing such features, because that could be interpreted as a form of selective censorship.  But the flurry of fake news on social media has also given rise in demands for some form of curation.
