Adani Enterprises announced that it proposes to commence construction of two major solar projects in Australia next year, each with an output of 100-200 MW.

Adani says land agreements are in place, and design and tendering work is under way, with construction flagged to start next year.

The company is also expected to announce a similar-size solar project in South Australia this week.

It aims to develop plants with a total capacity of 1500MW around the country within the next five years.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said: “I welcome Adani’s plans to invest in solar energy in Queensland.

Queensland Greens spokesman Michael Berkman said: “This solar project will reduce our domestic greenhouse emissions, but those gains are lost hundreds of times over unless Adani abandons their Reef-destroying mega-mine.”
