RAJOURI This month a sixth instance of ceasefire violation took place today.  Automatic weapons and shelled mortars were fired by Pakistani troops on forward posts along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.  “Pakistani Army fired indiscriminately from small arms and automatic weapons and resorted to mortar shelling from 0800 hours today on Indian Army posts along the LoC in Noushera belt of Rajouri district,” a defence spokesman said.  Retaliation  by army troops deployed on forward posts  took place.  The exchange continued till last reports came in.  Earlier this month on the 8th April,Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire.  Along the LOC in Poonch district a ceasefire violation took place on April 5th  .Pakistani army fired mortar shells on Indian army posts along the LOC in Bhimber Gali sector of Rajouri  district on April  4th.  Another incident took place on April 3rd.  In an Improvise explosive device(IED) blast along the LOC in Poonch sector on April 1 a junior Commissioned Officer(JCO),Naib Subedar S Sanayiama Som was killed.  In March along the LOC in Poonch there were four violations of the ceasefire.  An army Jawan Deepak Jagannath Ghadge was killed on March 9 when Pakistani soldiers initiated indiscriminate and unprovoked firing along in the LOC in Poonch.  228 instances of ceasefire violation along the LOC were reported in 2016 ,while  there were 221 instances of ceasefire violation  along the International Border(IB).
