ICC Champions Trophy, Ind vs Pak: Virat Kohli left bemused in press conference; video

kohliThere was no shortage of drama and entertainment even after the India versus Pakistan ICC Champions Trophy final came to an end at The Oval in London on Sunday. While Pakistan won the final to win the maiden Champions Trophy, Kohli went on to win hearts of the Pakistani fans after showing grace in defeat.

However, Kohli’s press conference, post the match, started on a strange or an entertaining note (depend on the way you see it).

It was pretty much a given that Kohli would be asked about the Jasprit Bumrah no-ball. Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman had edged it to MS Dhoni when he was batting on 3. To his good fortune, he was adjudged not-out as Bumrah had overstepped the line. Zaman then turned the tables on India as he slammed his maiden international hundred to set up a 180-run win for Sarfraz Ahmed-led Pakistan side.

Here’s how the interaction went:

Journalist (J): Captain, you won the toss and a wicket on the no-ball. Did you feel any pleasant moment in this match?

Virat Kohli (VK): Any what? Pleasant moment?

J: Pleasant moment. You won the toss and got a wicket on the no-ball. Did you think any more pleasant in the match?

VK: Pleasant moment in the match? For who?

J: For you.

VK: How can a no-ball be pleasant for me?

J: Because you got the wicket.

VK: Was that even sensible? I mean, what’s happening.
