Mumbai Indians’ star all-rounder and vice-captain Kieron Pollard arrived in Abu Dhabi to join the team bubble before the start of the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

Pollard recently captained Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021. Since Pollard played CPL, he will undergo two-day isolation before joining Mumbai Indians bubble.

The official Twitter account of Mumbai Indians confirmed Pollard’s arrival in Abu Dhabi. “THE BIG MAN IS HERE. And with that our #OneFamily is now all under one roof,” wrote MI.

The second phase of IPL 2021 will begin on September 19 in Dubai with a blockbuster clash between Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Mumbai Indians. MI resume their 2021 IPL campaign in fourth place with eight points from seven games. CSK, on the other hand, are second with 10 points from seven games.

IPL 2021 was initially postponed indefinitely after just 29 matches in May due to the second wave of Covid-19 in India. But the Indian cricket board (BCCI) was able to find out a window to slot in the remaining 31 games to complete the season and thus, decided to take the tournament to the UAE where it will be played from September 19 to October 15 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Oman.

Meanwhile, IPL will welcome the fans back to the stadiums after a brief hiatus owing to the COVID-19 situation.
