Malayalam actress abduction: Women’s panel slams Tamil dailies
Kerala Women’s Commission has slammed Tamil dailies for publishing name and photograph of the film star who was a victim of sexual assault. Its chairperson M. C. Josephine sought immediate intervention of her Tamil Nadu counterpart and Tamil Nadu Public Relations director. Several Tamil newspapers, television channels, magazines and websites have been regularly carrying her name and image. She wanted appropriate action against them.
“We’ll take stringent action against people involving in malicious campaigns on social media, online magazines, and websites,” she said. She also requested newspapers and online portals to remove the actors’ picture and name. Prominent Tamil newspaper Dina Thanthi had the star’s picture on its front page, following the arrest of actor Dileep, while Kumudam magazine carried her picture on its cover and inside pages with details of her film career.
