Motorola allegedly working on an Android tablet

motorolaMotorola has been on a high note in the recent years after its merger with Lenovo. They have given some exciting products to the consumers in the form of Moto Z smartphones with Moto Mods that took the smartphone community by storm. However, according to certain reports, it seems Motorola doesn’t want to stop there and intends to carry on with its intentions of releasing revolutionary products in the market, especially in the tablet segment.

According to Android Police, Lenovo Moto is working on a tablet device that is supposed to run on Android. There have been no details regarding the specification or the form factor of the tablet device. However, there’s a leaked screenshot of the alleged tablet’s highlighted feature – the Productivity Mode.

The Productivity Mode is available as a toggle-to-switch-on feature on the tablet’s user interface. If you enable it, the interface will switch to Chrome OS-style navbar at the bottom of the screen. All the active apps will be shown as a tab on the navbar, which can be selected as and when required, just like on a Chrome OS or Windows device. Android Police also states that “you can close an app by long-pressing on an icon in the navbar and dragging it up”, suggesting that the “tabbed apps” will be kept in memory until closed. There’s also an app drawer shortcut on the navbar to provide a quick access to all the apps on the device.

Based on this alleged leak, 9to5Google claims that the Productivity Mode has been lifted directly from Lenovo’s YogaBook tablet. Android Police’s sources also claim that the alleged Moto tablet could be a 9-inch device with a premium build quality.

If the leaks turn out to be true, then Motorola could be looking at a product with the capacity of moving the market by storm, just like the Moto Z series of smartphones. However, we would like to see the Moto Mod feature adapted for a tablet device, that could enhance the tablet’s productivity further.
