NSSO says Unemployment rate hit in 2017-18

The rate of joblessness among rural males in the age group of 15-29 years jumped more than three times to 17.4% in 2017-18.

Government’s three-year deadline to create 10 million new jobs in the textile sector have passed but manufacturers are yet to ramp up hiring.Unemployment rate stands at a 45 year high in 2017-18.

The labour force participation rate, the proportion of population working or seeking jobs, declined from 39.5% in 2011-12 to 36.9% in 2017-18 says NSSO.
