The latest in a string of high – profile acquisitions by music streaming service Spotify is Soundtrap , a Swedish startup that provides users a cloud- based audio workstation. Soundtrap lets users collaborate on music projects in real time ,including recording. Soundtrap has an app suite on Android and iOS , besides a desktop version. Spotify has been acquiring companies since the early part of 2016, and had notably been in talks to buy soundcloud ,though the talks ultimately fell through.
“ The essence of Soundtrap is to give easy -to- use , collaborative ,music-making capabilities to anyone with an electronic device and a passion for music,” Soundtrap said in a blog post .” This is a perfect fit because Spotify has also helped democratize music by helping millions of artistes connect with millions of fans , while helping listeners discover their favourite new artistes”.
