In Mumbai a manager has been arrested for stealing Rs.55 lakh from the cash register after the store’s owner failed to pay his salary.  The accused identified as Javed Sayyed filed a complaint of theft on July 23.  The accused said that someone broke into the store on  Abdul Rehman Street and made away with Rs. 55 lakh in cash.   An officer said, “A couple of eye-witnesses reported seeing a man wearing a grey raincoat enter the building, where the store is located, on the night of July 21.”  The police found that the Digital Video Recorder, which captured the CCTV footage of the store, was missing.  This raised the police’s suspicion as the location of the DVR is known only to someone with inside knowledge of the store.  The officer said, “We suspected Mr. Sayyed’s hand in the burglary, but his employer trusted him completely.  However, while making additional inquiries, we found that Mr. Sayyed was evading questions on his movements on the night the store was burgled.” The police had a hunch that Mr. Sayyed was involved in the crime. On searching his bike, they found a grey raincoat in its boot.  Mr. Sayyed was then detained and questioned intensively.  When Syed confessed having stolen the money, police arrested him.  He said that he was angry with his employer for not paying the salary. The stolen amount was hidden behind the toilet tank in his house which the police found out.
