On Tuesday morning in Delhi’s Mangolpuri district around 10 children being carried in a private van turned upside down. Only three children were discharged after being given first aid as all the other children were rushed to the hospital. Three children sustained major injuries, including a head injury, and were hospitalised, the police added. In Kanjhawala road the incident happened at 7.30 a.m. The accident occurred when the 21 – year – old van driver who was  allegedly speeding, lost control of the vehicle, which hit a divider and turned turtle. The children aged between 6 and 12 years were rescued by the passers-by  and locals from the overturned van.Parents were immediately alerted. Police said the van was ferrying children from Aman Vihar, Sultanpuri and Krishna Vihar to Kendriya Vidyalaya in Rohini Sector 22.  “Prima facie, the van was speeding and the driver lost control, hit a divider and the van overturned. A passer-by called the police control room and a team was sent to the spot. Driver Prakash Kumar was arrested on the spot . Most children had minor scratches but three of them had sustained serious injuries.  All of them are out of danger now,” said a police officer. “It is also a case of overcrowding as the number of children travelling in the van was beyond capacity. We are also checking whether the driver has held a licence and will write to the Transport Department for cancellation,” said a police officer.Prima facie, the van was speeding and the driver lost control, hit a divider and the van overturned.
