Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain, the young man who refused to desert his friends during the July 1 terror attack at the Holey Artisan Bakery, will be awarded Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice posthumously at a ceremony in Mumbai yesterday. Faraaz’s parents will receive the award at the JW Marriott, Sahar.

Harmony Foundation President Abraham Mathai said, “He displayed courage and bravado when faced with life and death. We consider it our most humble privilege to bestow this honour on Faraaz and We are proud that we could honour such a courageous person like Faraaz”.

Faraaz’s mother Simeen Hossain said “My son stood beside his friends, and this is the spirit of Islam. Those who killed all those innocent people, were monsters. I would never take them as Muslims.”

In a message with the WhatsApp group ‘Our Kids’, Simeen Hossain said “Faraaz is just a kid to me, but he is a courageous man for many. He started a war, and we will bear his legacy.”
