From Marvel’s Loki, Vidya Balan’s Sherni and Dhanush’s Jagame Thandhiram , here are the OTT releases one must watch out for in June.

With theatres in India remaining shut in June due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the audience will once again have to resort to alternate means for their daily dose of entertainment. However, cinephiles need not worry as OTT platforms have a slew of releases ready to keep the audience entertained, as they practice social distancing and self isolation amid the raging pandemic.

Streaming platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hotstar are going to release a few much-awaited series and films, which include Marvel’s Loki – the first MCU series on a negative character. June will also see the release of the much-awaited The Family Man 2, which is already running through some troubled waters owing to complaints against it. Netflix will see the return of the much-awaited Kim’s Convenience, while Dhanush’s Jagame Thandhiram will premiere on the platform as well.

Here’s looking at 10 shows and films you should watch on Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hotstar in June:

The Family Man 2 (Amazon Prime Video)

The sequel to the Manoj Bajpayee-starrer espionage action thriller The Family Man, season 2 will see Bajpayee’s Srikant Tiwari, who works as an intelligence officer for a special unit TASC of the National Investigation Agency, leave behind his risk-filled job on behest of his family. The show follows him as he is unable to adjust to civilian life, even as a matter of national security looms in the background. The show will also see Samantha Akkineni in a pivotal role. The show premieres on the OTT platform on June 4.

Loki (Disney+ Hotstar)

After WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, fans have been eagerly awaiting he third web series from the house of Marvel Cinematic Universe, Loki. One of the biggest releases of the month, the Tom Hiddleston starrer will follow the events of the character post-Avengers Endgame. This is also the first time that a negative character has been given a full-length web series in the MCU. Episodes will be available to stream weekly every Wednesday, 9 June onwards.

Kim’s Convenience (Netflix)

Fans have been waiting for this show to comeback for a long time now. Well, June will see the fifth installment of the Canadian sitcom Kim’s Convenience releasing. A feel-good drama, it stars Simu Liu, who will be next seen in Marvel’s Shang Chi releasing later this year. The show premieres on June 2.

Sherni (Amazon Prime Video)

While the exact release date is yet to be announced, Vidya Balan’s Sherni, will premiere on Amazon Prime this month. The Amit Masurkar directorial will see Vidya as an upright Forest Officer striving to balance a world of human-animal conflict. Meanwhile, the trailer for the film releases on June 2.

Sweet Tooth (Netflix)

Inspired by the DC Vertigo Sweet Tooth comic books, the show takes place in a mostly rural post-apocalyptic setting where some creatures are human/animal hybrids.. The story follows a hybrid deer-boy who forms an unlikely bond with a wandering loner. Sweet Tooth will premiere on June 4.

Luca (Disney+ Hotstar)

The animated release follows two boys, one who is actually a sea monster, as they enjoy a summer filled with fun in a seaside town on the Italian Riviera. The  coming-of-age fantasy comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will release on June 18.

Awake (Netflix)

After a global event wipes out humanity’s ability to sleep, a troubled ex-soldier fights to save her family as society and her mind spiral out of control. Starring Gina Rodriguez and Ariana Greenbaly, the film will see the solder (Gina) holding the cure for people to be able to regain their sleep, and the cure maybe her daughter. The film releases on June 9.

Jagame Thandhiram (Netflix)

The Dhanush-starrer is opting for a direct to OTT release in June.  Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the movie was slated for a theatrical release in May but got cancelled due to the pandemic. The film stars Dhanush, Aishwarya Lekshmi and James Cosmo, while Joju George and Kalaiyarasan portray supporting roles. The film releases on June 18.

Dom (Amazon Prime Video)

Dom chronicles the journey of Pedro, a man from Rio De Janeiro, who was once an addict and who becomes the leader of a criminal gang. The series will release on June 4 in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi apart from the original Portuguese audio.

Fatherhood (Netflix)

Kevin Hart’s upcoming comedy-drama follows the life of a man who struggles to raise his daughter after the unexpected death of his wife. It is based on the 2011 memoir Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love by Matthew LogelinFatherhood releases on June 18.
