A 5-year-old boy died after falling into a 200-feet-deep borewell in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said.

According to NDRF officer Pavan Gaur, the boy fell into an uncovered borewell at a farm in Kopardi village of Madhya Pradesh’s Ahmednagar district.

The deceased boy, identified as Sagar Budha Barela lived with his family. They had recently migrated from Burhanpur district in the state. According to the local police, the family members are sugarcane cutters by profession.

The 5th battalion of the NDRF was deployed as part of the rescue operation to recover the boy trapped in the borewell. However, the child stopped responding even before the excavation began. His body was brought to the surface at 3 am
