Just like filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap is also known for speaking about what she feels right. She is quite vocal about various topics and talks about almost everything on her YouTube channel. With 63K subscribers, Aaliyah manages a successful YouTube page and it has videos about different topics. Her latest video that she posted on Father’s Day is about asking “awkward” questions from her father Anurag. 

And like a sport, Anurag also gave answers to all the questions confidently. Aaliyah asked Anurag about his take on sleepovers with boyfriends, his reaction if he finds out that his daughter is pregnant, his views on her boyfriend Shane, and much more. One question, in particular, caught our attention and that was when Aaliyah asked Anurag his take on premarital sex (sex before marriage). 

To this, the filmmaker gave an unmissable and unexpected reply, and the same reads, “It’s a question that we asked in the 80s. I think now we should get beyond that question. That’s a question that we used to ask when we were in college and we used to moralise.” Aaliyah added, “But I don’t think it needs to be like that anymore. I think times have moved a lot.”

The filmmaker concluded by saying that, “No, we need to understand sexuality and sex and our own human body. We need to understand that first before we just jump into doing things out of peer pressure. Anything done out of peer pressure is not good. Anything done to look cool is not good. Anything done to belong to a certain group of people is not good. Do it because you want to do something, because you feel ready and you have someone. It has to be special.”

When asked about sleepovers with boyfriends, Anurag added that once you are an adult, you make your own life decisions. The filmmaker also stated that he doesn’t even probably have a say in the matter, except concern, and would just tell her to be safe and keep her phone on if she wants to call him.

Talking about Aaliyah’s boyfriend, Shane, and Anurag said he likes Shane. The filmmaker concluded by saying that he likes Aaliyah’s choice of friends and her choice of boys. Shane is very good and is very “spiritual, very calm, he has a lot of qualities that men of 40 don’t have, in terms of being there in difficult situations.”
