Afghanistan cricket board president Hamid Shinwari said all the “players and their families are good” amid the ongoing crisis in the country, which has been taken over by the Taliban.

Shinwari said none of the players have made any request to leave Afghanistan and that their cricketing schedule remains unaffected despite the current crisis in their country.

“There is no dispute as far as cricket is concerned, everything is fine. Players and families are good.

“We are good to go with t 20 World Cup and IPL also. There are no issues at all he said. We are preparing for series with Pakistan also, we have to play ODIs with them.

“As of now we haven’t officially communicated with BCCI but if required will do, they have always supported US we have good relationship with BCCI. Cricket is gentleman game we are committed to deliver our best…we will play.

“As of now no request form players to evacuate families they are good and safe,” Shinwari said in a statement on Monday.

In just a week of armed conquest, the Taliban have taken control of the capital city of Kabul after Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country and sought asylum in Tajikistan.

An official part of the militant group said the Taliban will soon declare the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ from the presidential palace. Meanwhile, the UN Security Council will on Monday hold a meeting on the situation in Afghanistan.
