iPhone users in India can now enjoy 5G speeds with the recent rollout of the iOS 16.2 software update. The update unlocks 5G connectivity on iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 series alongside iPhone SE 3 (2022). In India, Airtel and Reliance Jio are currently rolling out 5G services in select cities for free. Activating 5G on iPhones is simple, but users may have questions about the cost and setup. This article provides information about 5G on iPhones in India.

How to activate 5G on iPhones in India

As mentioned, users will need to be on iOS version 16.2 to take advantage of 5G speeds. To download the latest update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Once the update is installed, you may need to enable the 5G option by going to Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Options > Voice and Data > 5G or 5G Auto.

It’s worth noting that using 5G can affect battery life, so it’s recommended to select the 5G Auto option to help conserve power. Jio users may also see a 5G Standalone option, which will unlock the full potential of 5G. Airtel is using non-standalone 5G, which is based on an existing 4G network.
