Here’s another filmmaker from the short films circuit who is all set to make the leap to feature films. Damodharan Selvakumar, who has made the award-winning short film Moodar, is now debuting with a suspense thriller titled Aathmika, which has Ananth Nag and debutante Aishwarya in the lead roles.
“Ananth has acted in films like Neram, Premam and Vetrivel. We are introducing Aishwarya, who is a VJ on a Tamil music channel, with this film. They both play press reporters who are colleagues. Ananth is an actor who can adapt himself to any role. Since he has also worked as a cinematographer, he doesn’t make any demands. Even the other artistes were very cooperative. We all got along well and worked together like a family,” he says.
The story revolves around five characters, played by Ananth, Aishwarya, Jeeva Ravi, Birla Bose and Vinitha. “There might have been a few Hollywood thrillers with such a treatment, but this will be new to Tamil audiences,” states the director, who has shot the film in Chennai, Kodaikanal and Munnar.
The director has gone with people who have been journeying along with him since his short-film days as the crew, including cinematographer Kalai Shakthi, music director Charan Kumar and editor Rajesh.
