At least 9 people, including 5 women, were killed after an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus veered off the road and plunged into a canal in the West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

There were 47 passengers on board the bus that plunged into the Jalleru Wagu canal. The driver was among those killed. The bus was going from Aswaraopeta to Jangareddygudem.

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan expressed anguish and grief over the accident near Jalleru in Jangareddigudem Mandal in West Godavari district.

The Governor has instructed district officials to provide immediate aid to the injured and offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
