Apple has announced that the new HomePod mini colours, including Orange, Yellow and Blue, are now available for in-store pickup in select markets. These new colours, along with White and Space Grey, feature colour-matched details throughout, including the tinted touch surface, mesh fabric, volume icons, and woven power cable.

In the US, Apple says that the HomePod mini will be available in Yellow, Orange, and Blue colours via online as well as offline stores. Starting November 1, the all-new HomePod mini colour options will be available in Canada, Mexico, the US, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan.

Other markets, including Australia, Austria, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and the UK, will get HomePod mini’s new colour options later this month.

The HomePod mini is available in India for Rs. 9,900. It is important to note here that Apple has followed in the footsteps of its competitors in the smart speaker category, Google and Amazon. The Google Nest Mini and Amazon Echo Dot speakers are already offered in vibrant colours. While Google provides Blue and Orange versions of Nest Mini, Amazon offers Echo Dot in Blue. At the moment, the HomePod mini is listed on the Apple online store, but for availability, the company notes late November for the new colour options.

At just 3.3 inches tall, HomePod mini delivers unexpectedly big sound for a speaker of its size. The mini uses computational audio to provide a rich and detailed acoustic experience. In addition, the Siri voice assistant support allows the HomePod mini to recognise the voices of up to six household members. With it, you can also check on the latest news, weather, traffic, reminders, etc.

However, the smart speaker from Apple lacks an AUX port. Other new features include stereo pairing for HomePod minis, audio controls automatically appearing on an iPhone or iPad’s lock screen, and the ability to lower the bass level. The HomePod mini can also control your Apple TV. It comes along with a 20W USB-C power adapter.

An Apple S5 chipset powers the device. HomePod mini is compatible with iPhone SE, iPhone 6s or later, or iPod touch (7th generation) running iOS 15, and iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation or later), iPad Air 2 or later, or iPad mini 4 or later running iPadOS 15.

The HomePod mini is designed to work with Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. In addition, HomePod mini makes controlling smart home accessories effortless, with simple voice commands for Siri to turn off the lights, change the temperature, lock the doors, set a scene, or control devices at specific times.

The new HomePod mini ships with HomePod software 15.0. You will thus need to update it to the latest HomePod software, 15.1. The HomePod software 15.1 adds a new major feature to the smart speaker, the ability to play High Definition lossless music from Apple Music.
