  • Apple Watch Series 7 may come with flat edges and bigger display.
  • Alongside the new design, Apple may also introduce new watch faces.
  • Apple usually launches its new Watch models in September.

Apple Watch Series 7 is likely to debut at the iPhone 13 launch sometime next month and it may be the biggest upgrade in years. According to a new report, the upcoming Apple Watch will shed its curved design for a flatter look, which would mean a bigger display available to users. The existing Apple Watch has curved edges but that is going to go because Apple is apparently planning to harmonise design across its product categories. The Apple Watch Series 7 will favour the design of the iPhone 13.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch Series 7 may come with a bigger display and a bigger casing than what the Series 6 has. The increase may be about 1mm, which means the Series 7 may come in 41mm and 45mm sizes, as opposed to the 40mm and 44mm sized models of the Apple Watch Series 6. Gurman’s prediction in his newsletter Power On corroborates a previous leak that showed off unverified Apple Watch images in 41mm and 45mm sizes.

Along with the new size, Apple will introduce new watch faces. Gurman said that Apple will try to make the most of the bigger displays on the upcoming Apple Watch. Design-wise, the Apple Watch Series 7 will be radically different from the versions that Apple has launched over recent years. And this design may continue for the next three years of Apple Watch models, according to the newsletter. But even though tidbits of the design will change, the core design, which is a squarish dial, will remain.

Hardware-wise, the Apple Watch Series 7 is going to come with a better and faster processor, according to Gurman. But while the chipset may see an upgrade, the health-related functions may remain the same. Last year, Apple launched the Fitness app along with several new workouts for Apple Watch users and this year all of that is likely to remain as-is. However, there may be a new body-temperature sensor that Apple may introduce to the Apple Watch’s next year’s edition. For this year’s model, regular heart rate and blood oxygen level monitors are going to be available.

Last year, Apple launched the Watch SE model as an affordable tier for people who are willing to compromise on some features for less price. However, this year there is no speculation that a successor to Watch SE is planned. Hence, Apple may end up launching only the Watch Series 7. The launch usually takes place in September alongside the new flagship iPhone models, so Apple is likely to announce a date in the coming days.
