As 2021 comes to an end, Apple’s spree of launches this year is likely to end too. But that is a precursor to what we can expect from Apple next year and whether or not the company will make us happy. A new report aims to offer a preview of everything that Apple is likely to launch next year, and the list includes some interesting additions to the iPhone, iPad, and Mac lineups that have previously leaked, as well.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his latest edition of Power On newsletter, has corroborated pretty much everything that previous leaks have been about. That includes a new iPad Pro design on the next model slated to arrive in 2022, a redesigned MacBook Air with more ports probably, an entry-level MacBook Pro, a new Mac Pro, an updated Mac mini, and a high-end iMac with Apple Silicon. Last but not least, Gurman is positive that Apple may unveil the iPhone SE’s next model with 5G next year.
But the lineup for 2022 may not end here. Here is the list of everything that Gurman has predicted is set to arrive next year:
- An iPad Pro with new design and wireless charging
- An iPad Air with improvements
- An entry-level iPad
- An upgraded, high-end iMac with Apple Silicon
- An iPhone SE with 5G
- New AirPods Pro
- An improved MacBook Air with the biggest design overhaul and Apple M2 chipset
- A new Mac mini
- An entry-level MacBook Pro
- An improved Mac Pro with Apple Silicon.
- The iPhone 14 series.
- Three Apple Watches, including a new Apple Watch SE model, an updated vanilla model, and a ruggedised model aimed at extreme sports athletes.
- Apple’s first mixed augmented and virtual reality headset
Apple’s pipeline for 2022 seems fuller than ever, and it includes some notable products, such as the iPhone SE 5G. The last two crops of Apple’s flagship iPhone have supported 5G, and since the SE versions always use the processor of the recent flagship, the next year’s model may positively come with 5G support. iPhone SE is important for Apple as it sells in countries like India the most.
Among the anticipated products is the Apple AirPods Pro. Earlier this year, Apple launched the third-generation AirPods with a design resembling that of the AirPods Pro but without premium features. That makes the spot for the premium wireless earbuds empty, only to be filled next year with an improved version of the AirPods Pro. Rumours have suggested the next AirPods Pro model will have health-centric features, as well as better active noise-cancellation.
I am not sure whether or not Apple will launch everything that Gurman has predicted, but regardless, next year is going to be busy for the iPhone maker. And more than bringing additions to its existing lineups, Apple will try to focus on introducing new products that have reportedly been under development for so many years. One of them is the mixed reality headset, which will pave the way for Apple Glasses some day. For what it is worth, the pipeline looks exciting and we can only hope Apple sticks to it.
