Gujarati singer Arvind Vegda has questioned Bhuj: The Pride of India makers for copying his song Bhai Bhai and not giving him credit for it. The recently released Bhai Bhai song from the film has been sung by Mika and is picturised on Sanjay Dutt. The hook line of the song is inspired by Vegda’s Gujarati song Bhai Bhai. The singer has now started a Twitter campaign #Justice4bhaibhai

Arvind Vegda wants Bhuj: The Pride of India makers to give due credit to him and the Bhavai folk theatre and Nayak community of Gujarat for the Bhai Bhai song in the film. The song was released on July 29 on Sanjay Dutt’s birthday. The singer has composed the original Gujarati Bhai Bhai song, which is inspired from a drama format of the state. He has started a social media campaign with #Justice4bhaibhai.

According to Arvind, who was a contestant in Bigg Boss Season 9, Bhai Bhai – Bhala Mori Rama is a drama format of Gujarat from the 13th century which went extinct. He said that he helped popularize it again in 2011 after he researched and launched it again with a different flavour.

Earlier, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had also used the song in his film Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. Arvind had protested against the use of the song without his permission. The maker had termed it as a folk song, but the singer said that it is not. He had said that Bhavai is a theatre folk from Gujarat.

The Bhai Bhai song from Bhuj: The Pride of India was released on July 29 on Sanjay Dutt’s 62nd birthday. The track has been sung by Mika Singh and composed by Lijo George and Dj Chetas. The lyrics of Bhai Bhai have been penned by Manoj Muntashir. In the video, Sanjay Dutt is seen dancing with a number of dancer in traditional Gujarati attire.

Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Bhuj: The Pride of India stars Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk, Nora Fatehi and Sharad Kelkar in pivotal roles. Devgn plays the role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik in the film based on Indo-Pak War of 1971. The film is set to release on Disney+Hotstar on August 13.
