Actor Ashwin Kumar Lakshmikanthan who is making his debut as the lead role in the movie ‘Enna Solla Pogirai’ has been under the spotlight for the last few days after his controversial speech at the audio launch of the movie. His speech has created a ruckus among the fans and film personnel.
Many are calling his actions arrogant and boastful. With the controversy stemmed in social media, the actor himself appeared on a video on Thursday (December 9) to clarify and apologize for the controversial statement. In the video, Ashwin explained that his statements were made in a haste and were not intentional or to hurt anybody’s feelings. He added that he spoke with a free flow having gotten excited by the cheers of the crowd. He extended his apology seeking forgiveness in case his statement has caused grief to anybody.
“I had not prepared any speech when I was called on to speak and was completely distorted by the fans’ love showered. I did not intend to disrespect any of the directors who narrated the story to me. I did not imagine that the speech would backfire this bad. I understand the emotions behind it and I should not have taken the liberty to say that I dozed off during narration on the stage. I didn’t do it out of disrespect to anyone,” Ashwin said in the video.
With his movie about to release during the Christmas weekend, Ashwin landed in trouble after his statement on December 6 at the audio launch event. Ashwin in the event said that he agreed to act in the movie ‘Enna Solla Pogirai’ because he was “awake during the narration”. He went on to tell that, “had to refuse 40 films previously” because he had dozed off halfway through the narration. Though Ashwin had made the statement, director Hariharan was not offended and called him a “Superstar”.
