Asus is taking its sweet time to bring the Zenfone 8 and the Zenfone 8 Flip to India despite huge demand. But, for its home market, Taiwan, Asus seems to have big plans. More than four months after launching the ROG Phone 5 gaming phone originally, Asus has now introduced the ROG Phone 5s series. The new ROG Phone 5s includes two phones, ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro, and both of them are only small upgrades over the ROG Phone 5 and the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition.

The biggest change here is the processor. The new ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus processor, which is a slightly better version of the Snapdragon 888. Since ROG phones represent the latest and the greatest you can find on a smartphone, the ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro will do that for gamers. The design of the two phones is very similar to that of the original ROG Phone 5, but there are small changes in the design that you will notice only when both phones are kept side-by-side.

Asus ROG Phone 5s, ROG Phone 5s Pro price

The Asus ROG Phone 5s costs TWD 29,990 (roughly Rs 80,000) for the base variant with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. However, the second variant with 18GB RAM and 512GB internal storage costs TWD 33,990 (roughly Rs 90,000). You get colour options of Phantom Black and Aurora White. The ROG Phone 5s Pro is priced at TWD 37,990 (roughly Rs 1,00,000) for only 18GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration and it comes in only Phantom Black colourway.

Asus ROG Phone 5s specifications

The Asus ROG Phone 5s comes with a 6.78-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, up to a 144Hz refresh rate, a 360Hz touch-sampling rate, a peak brightness of 1200 nits, and support for HDR and HDR10+ content. The display does not have a notch or punch-hole, much like what the rest of the ROG phones have. The ROG Phone 5s is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus processor paired with up to 18GB of RAM. The storage on the Asus ROG Phone 5s cannot be expanded, so you can make a better choice with the storage variant. There is an Adreno 660 GPU under the hood for flagship-level graphics.

Software-wise, Asus ROG Phone 5s has Android 11 with ROG UI on top. You get an array of three cameras on the back of the phone. There is a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, the ROG Phone 5s has a 24-megapixel camera on the top bezel. There is support for up to 8K video recording, which means the camera experience is likely good on the phone. The Asus ROG Phone 5s has a 6000mAh battery, the same as the one on the ROG Phone 5, that supports 65W fast charging through a wired charger and 10W charging wirelessly.

Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro specifications

As the name suggests, there are some Pro features on the ROG Phone 5s Pro. First, there is a secondary PAMOLED ROG Vision display on the back of the phone. This display shows date and time, incoming calls, battery charging, and other nifty features. This is a colour display, unlike the black and white panel on the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition. The backside of the ROG Phone 5s Pro has game controls to help you navigate your game. The box of the ROG Phone 5s Pro has an AeroActive Cooler 5 that brings an external cooling fan with dedicated button controls. Asus is also giving support for the accessories that you get with ROG Phone 5 on the ROG Phone 5s. The rest of the specifications of the ROG Phone 5s Pro are the same as those of the ROG Phone 5s.
