Battlegrounds Mobile India is now available for download. Honestly, it’s nothing but PUBG Mobile with a new name and schooling.

After trying for almost 24 hours, we were finally able to download Battlegrounds Mobile India, a game that a lot of gaming enthusiasts have been waiting for. Honestly, it’s nothing but PUBG Mobile with a new name and schooling. They picked up the same game, made it watch a few Sooraj Barjatya movies, and re-launched it with a promise of safe and secure gaming experience. Nevertheless, it’s finally here and at least the PUBG fans would appreciate that.

Before we talk about the game in detail, it’s worth mentioning that only the beta version of the game is currently available for download, and we are still not sure when the official roll-out will happen. So, if you are not able to download the game yet, please be patient and keep checking the official play store page.

The Battlegrounds Mobile India file size is around 700mb and increases to 1.77GB with the additional data. So, make sure that you have that much space on your smartphone.

Annoys more than it helps

Krafton has made the setup process very lengthy to show that it actually cares about gamers’ privacy but, most of these things don’t solve a real purpose. For example, you will be asked if you are older than 18 years or not but, there is no in-game process to verify that. Similarly, there are regular audio warnings within the game asking players to take regular breaks while playing Battlegrounds Mobile India but, it only annoys you.

Once you enter the game, the same voice reminds you that this game does not represent real life, and you should not spend long hours playing. And, it happens every time you start a match. It would have been better if these warnings came when players had crossed a certain time limit.

Player data can be transferred

The good thing is that Krafton is giving the players an option to transfer their data from PUBG if they log in using the same Facebook, Twitter or Google Play account. The game now offers a lot more graphics option including Ultra HD and UHD. The latter is still not available and will be added soon.

The waiting time has also been reduced. I played two Battlegrounds Mobile India games and in both the occasions the waiting room was not longer than 45 seconds. To give context, it is usually between 70 and 90 seconds in Call of Duty: Mobile.

Familiar gameplay

Coming to the gameplay, the locations, graphics and overall experience is very similar to PUBG Mobile. The weapons, equipment and customisation options are also similar to what we have seen before. The map is similar to PUBG as well and contrary to reports, doesn’t have India specific locations. Now, it’s not like Krafton has changed everything. But, most things it did, we wish it hadn’t!

The first major change is that Battlegrounds Mobile India shows blood in green instead of red. There is an option to change colours but, not red. It kind of looks funny within the game but, guess we will get used to of it, just like so many other things. Also, the players shed leaves instead of blood when they are shot which is even more unusual.

Also, when you take down a player, the game says finished instead of ‘kill’, another way of Krafton differentiating itself from the Tencent version of the game.

I tested the game on Mi 11 Ultra, and it ran seamlessly, so there is no complains there. In fact, I came second and almost had Chicken Dinner how is that for someone who was never a regular PUBG player!
