PUBG Mobile for India, known as Battlegrounds Mobile India, is happening soon. Krafton, the South Korean company that owns the PUBG and Battlegrounds Mobile IP, has been teasing the release of the game. The last one literally dropped a major hint, according to which the Battlegrounds Mobile India release will take place on June 18. The launch later this week is something industry insiders have also been hinting at. So, if everything is true, PUBG Mobile will make a comeback to India on June 18.

The June 18 launch makes sense because it falls right after a month from the day the pre-registration for Battlegrounds Mobile India began. And that is just for Android — through the Google Play Store. This means that the launch on June 18 is not going to include the iPhone version of the game. It does not mean Battlegrounds Mobile India for iOS is not happening. It is just Krafton is taking its sweet time to finesse the game for the iPhone and will start pre-registration soon, according to the website. Android folks, this is how you can prepare your phone for the Battlegrounds Mobile India release later this week.

Pre-registration

The first thing that you have to ensure is pre-registration. Krafton opened the pre-registration for Battlegrounds Mobile India on May 18 on the Google Play Store. What pre-registration does is give you an advance entry into the download programme, where you can ask Google Play Store to download the game automatically on your phone as soon as it is out. You will not have to visit the Play Store every time to check availability. Plus, there are pre-registration rewards that you may not get on downloading the game otherwise. There are four rewards that Krafton will credit to your Battlegrounds Mobile India account signed in using the same Google account as the one you use for the Play Store.

Phone eligibility

Krafton’s Battlegrounds Mobile India is going to weigh around 600MB on Android. This means that you need to have at least 600MB free on your phone to download the game. But, actually, you will need to have a lot more space to be able to run the game properly. Your phone needs to be on Android 5.1 or higher version, which means all new Android phones are supported. The RAM on your phone has to be at least 2GB, which is also something most phones will have. Smartphones with Android Go software will not support the game because of RAM constraints. Of course, the performance of the game will depend on how good the specifications of your phone are, but you need to at least have the basic ones to be able to run the game. And, of course, you need a good internet connection.

Parents’ permission

If you are under 18, Battlegrounds Mobile India will require you to get consent from your parents or guardians. This will happen through mobile number verification, but the exact method is not available right now. It may be a one-time password-based verification where you will have to provide the game with a mobile number to get OTP and you will gain access to the game only after entering it. Krafton may also set up a calling helpline for parents to prevent kids from practising any fraud here, because getting an OTP on a phone of a parent is something that does not look like a strict restriction.

Krafton has not officially announced the launch date, but it is highly likely Battlegrounds Mobile India will be released on June 18. We will find out more in the coming days.
