Rashtriya Janata Party (RJD) Tejashwi Yadav mocked the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign of ‘double engine’ growth, citing the Niti Aayog’s report which placed Bihar at the lowest rank on various parameters.

“Bihar is number 1 from the last. The Niti Aayog report said this,” Tejashwi Yadav.

Tejashwi Yadav said, “Nitish Kumar’s standard reply to all problems and issues is simple, ‘humko pata nahin, Niti Aayog ka report humne nahin dekha.” He does not know ABCD of the current situation.

Tejashwi Yadav was referring to the Niti Aayog report that was released in November-end. The report has ranked Bihar lowest on various parameters. The Niti Aayog report said about 52 per cent of Bihar’s 11 crore population was poor. On the nutrition index, 51.88 per cent of Bihar’s population was found to be undernourished. Bihar ranks the lowest on both parameters.

Tejashwi Yadav upped his campaign against Nitish Kumar saying, “Bihar mein bahaar hai kyonki Nitish Kumar hain, aisa nahin hai. Bihar barbaad hai kyunki, Nitish Kumar hai [Slogan is Bihar is prospering because it has Nitish Kumar. This is not the case. Bihar is devastated because it has Nitish Kumar].”

“We are supporting them at the Centre. It was Congress’s decision to contest the bypolls separately in Bihar. But in Bihar Assembly, they were with us.”

“MIM is not a factor [in UP]. It is not a factor in Bihar election either.”

“We don’t have much presence in UP. MIM is not a force there. I think the fight is directly between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party. It is a contest over the question of whether the BJP stays in power or should be removed from power.”

Why does Tej Pratap, the elder brother of Tejashwi Yadav often voices his dissent or run a parallel campaign?

“I will take you there, you can do panchayat (mediation) between us. Come over, we will both offer you tea.”

“This is an internal matter of the family and the party. The public and media have nothing to do with it. We can assure you that whatever it is we will handle it.”

“She has her own view on issues, we have our own,” Tejashwi Yadav responded to a question, “Does he agree with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s criticism of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleging that he spent most of his time abroad?

The publicthe people of the country will fight against [PM Modi]. Unemployed youth will fight against him. Unemployment and inflation are the real issues.”

“Before 2014, the BJP used to sing a song, ‘mahangaai daayan khaaye jaat hai [the witch of inflation is eating the nation]. Now, they are more into ‘Bhaujai and Mehbooba’ [sister-in-law and lover].”

“They link everything to the national interest and Hindutva”

“Recently, Mohan Bhagwat said ‘Hindus are getting weak’. But I will remind you of his statement made in 2014, when [RSS chief Mohan] Bhagwat said ‘the Hindus came to power after a very long period’. So, my question is who has weakened the Hindus. Are you accusing [PM] Modi of doing this?”
