BSF jawans in Punjab opened fire at a drone on Sunday that was noticed along the Indo-Pak border. The drone, however, managed to flee to Pakistan. The incident was reported from the old Sundargarh border outpost.

After the incident, Border Security Force jawans are closely combing the area for any other security threats. It also launched an investigation into the incident.

A few days ago, four packets of heroin were seized after drone movement was noticed at the same border outpost. “Four packets of contraband suspected to be heroin (weight appx. – 3.660 kg) were recovered from the bag,” a BSF statement had said.

“Suspecting the modus operandi of anti-national elements of smuggling through a drone, our troops retaliated with fire in the direction of a humming drone to thwart their attempt,” the statement read.

Of late, drones have become one of the biggest challenges for security agencies as they are being used for smuggling drugs and weapons.
