Meteorological Department reports that there is a strong indication of rain over the state with hopes of northeast monsoon revival from December 1. A low pressure has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining equational Indian Ocean. It may also intensify into a depression in the next two days. It is far off from the TamilNadu coast but if it intensifies there are rains over the state. Chennai and vellore are experiencing winter like weather because of the lack of cloud cover. Minimum temperature in meenambakkam dropped by 19.2 degree Celsius on Sunday night. It is 3 degree Celsius lower than average. There was a temperature of 20.4 degree Celsius in nungambakkam. Officials said this weather trend is set to change once the rains sets in. Residents are looking forward for the December rains to offset the deficit in the seasonal rainfall so far. Since October 1 chennai has received only 72.9 mm of rainfall which is short of 606mm. As per meteorological department the sky will be partly cloudy on Tuesday and Wednesday and the city can witness light rains.
