Cryptocurrency prices shot up on Thursday after a stellar rally boosted valuations of popular virtual coins.

Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, is going strong after hitting a new record high of over $67,000 a day ago. At 12:15 pm, Bitcoin was trading at $64,622.50 or over one per cent higher than its price 24 hours ago.

The market capitalisation of the world’s most popular cryptocurrency stood at $1.22 trillion and the 24-hour trading volume declined marginally to $2.55 billion.

Ether’s valuation also surged sharply as it traded over $4,150 or over 8 per cent higher than its value 24 hours ago. Ether’s market capitalisation is inching closer towards $500 billion and the 24-hour trading volume stood at $1.83 billion.

Other popular altcoins like Solana, XRP, Cadano, Polkadot, Stellar, Dogecoin, Chainlink, Uniswap and Litecoin also surged sharply, following Bitcoin’s stellar performance.

Commenting on the spectacular rally, Edul Patel, CEO and Co-founder of Mudrex, a global algorithm-based crypto investment platform, said, “After the massive rally in Bitcoin following creating new all-time high for the largest cryptocurrency, the momentum in the crypto market has now moved on towards the altcoins.”

“The largest altcoin, ETH, surpassed the $4100 level. Ethereum’s closest competitor, Solana, moved more than 18 per cent higher over the past 24 hours,” he added.
