On a day when MS Dhoni was taking fans down memory lane, Lasith Malinga was showcasing signs of his vintage self away from all the television cameras. The legendary former Sri Lankan fast bowler was showing he still has got the skills that sent shivers down the spine of many batters even as he was giving throw-downs during a training session at the Rajasthan Royals.

On the eve of Match 33 IPL 2022 between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Lasith Malinga was bowling to Shmroon Hetmyer at the nets. In a video shared by the Royals, Malinga was seen nailing a few of his Yorkers even without a run-up.

Malinga started with a wide Yorker that hit the base of Hetmyer’s bat. The West Indies baiter was seen making a cheeky comment: “What is this guy bowling? He’ll break my bats man?”

Malinga managed to get a few Yorkers in but whenever he missed the mark, Hetmyer was up to the task and hit it into the night sky.

Malinga, who was part of Mumbai Indians’ success over the years, joined Rajasthan as their fast-bowling coach ahead of IPl 2022 season.

Rajasthan Royals have been in good form in IPL 2022, winning 4 out of their first 6 matches. Hetmyer, who made the move from Delhi Capitals to Rajasthan Royals, has found a new lease of life at the Royals.

While Hetmyer scored only 242 runs in 14 matches for Delhi last season, the big-hitting West Indies star has already amassed 223 runs in 6 matches at a stunning average of 74.33 and a strike rate of 179.84.

Hetmyer has been doing the finishing job to perfection to complement a powerful top-order which has an in-form Jo Buttler who has smashed two hundred already, and skipper Sanju Samson
