Delhi Police nabbed two dreaded criminals, who are sharp shooters of the ‘Kala Jatheri Gang’ under operation ‘Sajag’ on Wednesday. The criminals were arrested by the staff of Sangam Park Bharat Nagar.

Operation ‘Sajag’ is a continuing drive by the North-West district for containment of crime and criminals to reduce street crime and also to instill confidence and a sense of security among citizens.

Police recovered two semi-automatic pistols along with four live cartridges from their possession. A stolen sports bike used by the criminals was also recovered.

DCP North West Usha Rangnani said,”On December 7, a cop, Yamin, was on evening patrolling duty in the Sangam Park area. When they were passing through an underpass road, near Gufa wala Mandir, Sangam Park, at about 7.30PM, they noticed two persons coming on a Yamaha FZ motorcycle without a number plate and when they saw the police team, they turned back their motorcycle and tried to flee from the spot. However, by displaying a keen sense of alertness and swift response, staff were able to nab them after chasing them at a certain distance. On enquiry, they were identified as Ankit aka Deepanshu and Aashu aka Nikhil. During the search, two semi-automatic pistols along with four live cartridges were recovered from their possession. On verification of motorcycle Yamaha FZ, number DL8S CQ 5453, red-black colour, it was found to be stolen.”

During their sustained interrogation, they disclosed that they are members of the notorious ‘Kala Jatheri Gang’ and they work on instructions given by one key member of this gang who also gave them recovered semi-automatic pistols. Accordingly, both the accused persons were arrested. Both are addicted to drugs and recently came out of the ‘Observation Home’ in the month of September as they were previously involved in cases of murder, attempt to murder and Arms Act.
