AIADMK co-coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday questioned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for giving promotion to a Public Works Department (PWD) officer whose properties came under a Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption raid.

“While using an advertising film about running a transparent and corruption free government, why was a PWD officer who took 2.27 crore bribe promoted by Stalin’s government? Is this the action taken against those who fail in their duty,” tweeted EPS, tagging CM Stalin’s tweet carrying a state advertisement over not to accept or seek bribe.

On November 3, DVAC searched the properties belonging to Shobana, who is working as an executive engineer, Technical Education Division.

DVAC reportedly seized Rs 2.06 crore in cash, 38 sovereign of gold jewellery and several other incriminating documents.

The raid was conducted based a tip that Shobana had acquired huge amounts of money for sanctioning funds to undertake work in eight districts. A case was also registered.

Shobana was transferred to Trichy and posted as Deputy Superintending Engineer for Public Works Department, Building Circle.
