Malaysian celebrity Nadia Chang is the first contestant to be eliminated from the reality show, Bigg Boss Tamil  Season 5. Her moving story on how she fought several odds to reach where she is today made people love her, but that wasn’t enough to make her stay inside the house for more days. In an interview with us, Nadia says that she loved every bit of her experience inside the house. “I was there only for two weeks and was observing the housemates. I spoke whenever necessary and had fun watching the drama unfold. Even though it was a short time, I had fun being inside the house,” begins Nadia.

But did the ex-model and digital content creator feel that she was evicted too soon? “Of course! I am not going to lie as it was a short stint and I had expected to stay longer. I won’t say that I didn’t show myself more as that wasn’t the case. On the plus side, even though I was there only for a few days, the love and affection I got from people is overwhelming. And for that reason, I feel I should have stayed longer for them to get to know me a little better,” says Nadia, adding, “You have no idea about the number of supportive messages that I have received. What they said and my votes didn’t add up, and I wonder how (smiles)!”One other criticism Nadia faced was the fact that she was being too quiet. Does she agree? “Not really. If I was really that quiet, the housemates wouldn’t have said that I was a strong contestant, a frank and sensible person. I don’t know how some feel that I was quiet. Nevertheless, I take it sportively,” she says.

Despite everyone in the house being strangers, Nadia says she felt a connection with Namitha and Madhu. But did she have a game plan? “Even though the show has been airing for the last four years, you can’t prepare for Bigg Boss. There is a lot of difference between what you see from the outside and what really happens inside the house. The environment inside the house is completely different. It is like you’ve prepared for the exam, but the question paper is different. In my experience, I feel the show is a lot more dramatic this time. At times I felt like, ‘Content creator-ke content kudukuraangala! But with so much drama going on, I didn’t feel like adding to it and being fake. I wanted to be myself, but I guess I was too honest,” she laughs.
Being a digital content creator, did she find it hard to be away from her phone? “Well, that’s what people think — that I can’t be away from my phone. But I have taken so many breaks and use my phone only for work. But here, the challenge wasn’t my phone, it was the people. Staying inside the house with 17 strangers was a new experience for me,” says Nadia.

With the show giving her a platform in Tamil Nadu, Nadia wants to use her popularity wisely. “I want to set an example and be a role model for people, especially women who think they can’t achieve due to financial reasons. Women think their lives end after getting married and having children. But there’s more to life and one can achieve a lot more at any age. In that sense, I want to provide them comfort and be a support of sorts,” she signs off.
