Sony is introducing a new point and shoot camera in India for content creators and vloggers. The Sony Alpha ZV-E10 will be officially launched in the country on Monday afternoon and will succeed last year’s Sony ZV-1. The Sony Alpha ZV-E10 will be priced at Rs 59,490, Mukesh Srivastava – Head of Digital Imaging Business at Sony India told India Today Tech in an exclusive conversation. The camera maker will also introduce a vlogging kit (SELP1650), which will cost Rs 69,990 along with the camera.

The Alpha ZV-E10 is essentially optimised for vlogging but, comes with a 24.2-megapixel camera, which Sony believes can also shoot amazing still images. The camera also comes with APS-C Exmor CMOS Sensor and BIONZ X image processing engine to deliver high-quality imagery detailed with high sensitivity and natural looking bokeh. The camera is capable of taking 11 shots every second for up to 116 frames shots in JPEG (Standard) at one time. It also comes with real-time eye AF which continuously tracks the subject for stunning portraits.

It would be very safe to say professional vlogging and live-streaming trends have seen an upward swing during the pandemic, Srivastava explained, while adding that this has translated into a growing demand from content creators and vloggers for advanced imaging technology with easy-to-use functionalities to capture great looking videos and versatile content without a tricky setup.

“On one hand, there is a need for compact and lightweight cameras that come in handy, features like image stabilisation while handheld shooting and precise voice recording capabilities are gaining impetus among creators of all genres,” he said.

What’s new with the Sony Alpha ZV-E10?

The camera brings a few upgrades on last year’s Sony ZV-10. Srivastava said that most of these features have been designed to deliver high quality video and audio performance. Some new features include an interchangeable lens. It allows content creators to change lens as per their requirement. Sony has also added a button to implement the blur effect in the background of your shots.

Sony has also equipped the ZV-E10 with a product showcase button which allows the camera to switch between the creators and the product they are showcasing in the video. There is also real-time Eye Auto Focus which provides continuous tracking of the subject. It works even when the face is partially hidden.

With 425 phase-detections and 425 contrast-detection autofocus points densely distributed across the imaging area, the ZV-E10 can quickly and reliably detect the position of the subject and then tracks the subject’s motion, keeping it in sharp focus.

A built-in Directional 3-capsule mic completes this compact point and shoot camera.

“The camera comes with a windscreen which helps deliver clear audio even in windy situation and versatile sound options. For expanded audio options, the ZV-E10 includes a Digital audio interface via Multi Interface (MI) Shoe and a mic jack to connect an external mic. The inclusion of a headphone jack allows the user to connect headphones to accurately monitor sound recordings. In addition to that, Audio output timing can also be set for Live or Lip Sync as per the creator’s requirement,” Srivastava explained.

Both the camera and kit will be available in the country starting today.
