PC users around the globe are anxiously waiting for the arrival of the all-new Windows 11. With its announcement back in June, it is only recently that Microsoft had hinted at the release date of its new operating system to the general public. As per the company, Windows 11 will begin rolling out to compatible PCs on October 5, 2021.

At the time of its announcement, Microsoft had confirmed that Windows 11 will come as a free upgrade to Windows 10 users. All eligible PCs can thus upgrade to Windows 11 as per their compatibility, which is only limited by some of the hardware specifications that Windows 11 demands. In return, the all-new Windows version brings a host of upgrades to one’s computing experience.

For instance, Windows 11 is focused on improving the Windows user interface through a completely redesigned layout. Some examples of this include a completely new Start menu, with an updated Start button that is now positioned at the center of the taskbar. In addition, Windows 11 brings several improvements to system performance.

Here is a look at some of the top improvements that the Windows 11 is set to bring to computers worldwide.

1. The new design and sounds on the Windows 11 bring a fresh twist to the operating system. Meant to bring a sense of calm and ease, the OS now features redesigned icons and the themes, with softer visuals and transparent background looks to focus on what is at the front. Windows has now even introduced rounded corners on Windows 11 as seen on both Android and iOS.

2. The all-new Start menu brings a whole new use-case on Windows 11. It has been repositioned to the center of the screen to provide a fresh perspective on user’s content. It now also utilizes the cloud and Microsoft 365 to show users recent files from multiple linked devices so they can work seamlessly across devices.

3. An interesting new addition is the Snap Layouts, Snap Groups and Desktops. Meant to optimise the screen real estate on Windows 11, these features will let users multitask seamlessly by dedicating sections of the screen to different apps for simultaneous work.

4. Windows 11 will also introduce Widgets, small graphical apps that provide information at-a-glance related to topics like news, weather, sports, stock market and more. These Widgets will be easily accessible directly from the Windows 11 taskbar for quick reads and will work somewhat like the News and Interests menu on the Windows 10.

5. Microsoft Teams has now been directly integrated into Windows with the Windows 11 and will be accessible through the taskbar. Opening the Microsoft Teams chat right from the taskbar will thus provide a faster way for Windows users to connect to their network.

There are several other improvements that the Windows 11 is poised to bring. A few mentionable ones include system and performance improvements with 40 per cent smaller updates that will now run in the background. Windows 11 will also come with support for Android apps on Windows for the first time ever, though this will be rolled out in the later months.
