• Gold is trading at Rs 46,868 per 10 grams on the MCX.

On Tuesday, both gold and silver are trading on the lower side of the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). Recording a dip of Rs 34 or 0.07 per cent, gold futures, maturing on October 5, 2021, stand at Rs 46,868 per 10 grams on the MCX.

Meanwhile, silver futures, maturing on December 3, 2021, are retailing at Rs 63,203 per kg, witnessing a downfall of Rs 161 or 0.25 per cent.

Yesterday, gold was at Rs 46,927 per 10 grams on the MCX, with a hike of Rs 74 or 0.16 per cent. Meanwhile, silver recorded a dip of 0.25 per cent or Rs 156 and its rate stood at Rs 63,474 per kg. The prices of gold and silver stood at Rs 46,908 and Rs 63,299, respectively, when the market closed on September 13, 2021.

Gold and Silver prices on international market:

Globally, gold prices edged lower on Tuesday and investors are eyeing U.S. inflation data that could offer hints on the possible timeline for the Federal Reserve’s tapering, reported news agency Reuters. On the other hand, the dollar index remained firm after hitting a two-week high on Monday and gold is now expensive for holders of other currencies.

As per Reuters, spot gold fell 0.2 per cent to $1,790.74 per ounce and U.S. gold futures eased 0.1 per cent to $1,792.10. CB policymaker Isabel Schnabel was quoted by Reuters as saying that inflation in the euro area is expected to ease ‘in all likelihood’ the next year.

In a significant development, SPDR Gold Trust, the world’s largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, said its holdings rose 0.2 per cent to 1,000.21 tonnes on Monday, according to reports. Silver went down 0.1 per cent to $23.70 per ounce and platinum fell 0.1 per cent at $959.71 in the global market.
