Gold and Silver prices in international market:

On Tuesday, gold prices eased in the global market as the U.S. dollar edged higher. However, persisting inflation concerns kept bullion close to a more than one-week peak hit in the previous session, as per the reports.

As per the report by Reuters, spot gold fell 0.2 per cent lower to $1,765.41 per ounce and U.S. gold futures inched 0.1 per cent lower at $1,766.20. Even as the economic growth slowed down in the third quarter, new orders for U.S.-made goods accelerated in August and led to sustained strength in the manufacturing sector, according to Reuters.

A government source was quoted by Reuters as saying that India’s gold imports in September went up 658 per cent from last year’s lower base. A correction in local prices prompted jewellers to increase purchases for the upcoming festive season.

Meanwhile, spot silver fell 0.6 per cent to $ 22.52 per ounce and platinum went down 0.7 per cent to $960.81 in the international market.
