The prices of gold and silver changed on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Wednesday. Today, gold futures, maturing on October 5, 2021, stand at Rs 46,651 per 10 grams, witnessing a marginal dip of 0.02 per cent or Rs 9.

Meanwhile, silver futures, maturing on December 3, 2021, are trading at Rs 60,890 per kg with a jump of 0.75 per cent or Rs 451.

On Tuesday, both the precious metals recorded a dip on the MCX. Gold stood at Rs 46,210 per 10 grams, silver traded at Rs 59,640 per kg. The prices of gold and silver stood at Rs 46,638 and Rs 60,439 respectively when the market closed on September 21, 2021.

Gold and Silver prices on international market:

As per Reuters, gold prices remained flat on Wednesday and the dollar held firm near a one-month high. Gold prices were flat amid growing uncertainties triggered by China’s Evergrande debt crisis that hit the global markets, as per the reports.

On the other hand, spot gold was flat at $1,775.63 per ounce and U.S. gold futures saw a decline of 0.1 per cent to $1,776.30. The two-day meeting of the U.S. Federal Reserve is expected to conclude on Wednesday and investors will shift their focus on new signals when tapering may begin.

According to reports, the U.S. Central Bank is also expected to give an outlook on interest rate hikes which would raise the opportunity cost of holding the non-interest-bearing asset.

In another significant development, holdings of SPDR Gold Trust, the world’s largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, fell 0.1% to 1,000.79 tonnes and the Asian stock markets kicked off on a cautious note today. On the other hand, silver saw a jump of 1.2 per cent to $22.74 per ounce and palladium edged 0.2% higher to $1,910.34 on the global front.
