Witnessing a hike of 0.06 per cent or Rs 27, gold futures maturing on October 5, 2021, are trading at Rs 47,129 per 10 grams on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) today. Meanwhile, silver futures, maturing on December 3, 2021, stand at Rs 63,175 per kg with a dip of 0.27 per cent or Rs 173.

Yesterday, gold stood at Rs 47,299 per 10 grams and observed a jump of 0.25 per cent or Rs 116. Similarly, silver was retailing at Rs 63,776 per kg with a jump. The prices of gold and silver stood at Rs 47,120 and Rs 63,366, respectively, on the MCX when the market closed on August 31, 2021.

Gold, silver prices on international market:

Today, gold prices remained steady in the international market and the dollar index ticked 0.1 per cent higher, reported news agency Reuters. The investors eagerly waited for the jobs report for clues as speculations were rife that the Federal Reserve might slash its pandemic-era stimulus measures, according to Reuters.

Meanwhile, spot gold was held steady at $1,813.93 per ounce and U.S. gold futures went down by 0.2 per cent to $1,815.10. According to Reuters, U.S. consumer confidence remained low as concerns about soaring Covid-19 infections and higher inflation dimmed the outlook for the economy.

The holdings of SDPR gold, the world’s largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, fell 0.2 per cent to 1,000.26 tonnes. On the global front, silver was flat at $23.88 per ounce and platinum went up by 0.3 per cent to $1,015.49.
