The Andhra Pradesh Police arrested two persons in Krishna district for killing a 70-year-old man. One of the accused is the grandson of the deceased, identified as J Adam. The other accused is his grandson’s friend.

The incident took place in Krishna district’s Vijayawada city around 1 am on December 11. The police said Adam was killed over a property dispute. The accused confessed to the murder during questioning, the police said.

The accused were identified as Juvvanapudi Venkata Varaprasad, Adam’s grandson, and Vanukuri Prem Kumar.

Adam was sleeping in his home at the time of the murder, the police said. The police recovered Rs 70,000 in cash, four gold rings, a gold chain, the deceased’s will and weapons from the two accused.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, B Sreenivasulu said Adam was from Nuzvid city in Krishna district and lived in Vijayawada. The accused stole 10 carats of gold money after killing Adam, the police said.

The police formed special teams to probe the case after sub-inspector T Ramakrishna registered a murder case on December 11, Sreenivasulu said. The investigation led the police to Juvvanapudi Venkata Varaprasad and his friend Vanukuri Prem Kumar, who admitted to killing Adam, he said.

We have recovered the stolen gold and cash from the accused within 48 hours of registering the case,” he said.

The police also handed over rewards to the personnel who investigated the case.
