After Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar allegedly called BJP MLA Nikki Hembrom “beautiful” during a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance legislative party on Monday, she said she was hurt by his behaviour and has informed her party’s leadership.
Nikki Hembrom said, “I am very hurt by Nitish Kumar’s behavior. What he said is so objectionable that it seems inappropriate to speak on it again and again. I have informed the top leadership of the party.”
According to media reports, BJP MLA from Katoriya Nikki Hembrom was speaking on the issue of prohibition and raised a question on providing alternative employment opportunities to people who involved in the production of Mahua (type of alcoholic drink).
That is when Nitish Kumar interrupted and allegedly made an objectionable remark by calling her “beautiful”. The chief minister of Bihar reportedly went on to say that the BJP MLA did not know that the state government had taken several measures for the upliftment of tribal communities involved in the production of Mahua.
On Friday, the last day of the winter session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Nikki Hembrom brought up the issue. She said she had informed the BJP high command about the “indecent remarks” made by Nitish Kumar.
Reacting to the incident, Janata Dal (United) leader Lesi Singh said, “The woman MLA must have got confused but there was no intention by Nitish Kumar of insulting her. Nitish Kumar respects women.”
Meanwhile, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Aacharya also took a jibe at the chief minister. She tweeted, “Chacha is infamous even at this age.”
