India registered 6,990 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 15.9 per cent lower than yesterday, according to the health ministry data. With this, the total caseload has risen to 3,45,87,822.

Top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 3,382 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 730 cases, Maharashtra with 536 cases, West Bengal with 511 cases and Mizoram with 437 cases.

At least 80.05 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 48.38 per cent of the new cases.

In the last 24 hours, 190 deaths were reported in the country, taking the total reported death count to 4,68,980. Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (117), followed by Maharashtra with 21 daily deaths.

India’s recovery rate now stands at 98.35 per cent. A total of 10,116 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,40,18,299 across the country.

In the last 24 hours, active cases decline by 3,316. With this, the country’s active caseload stands at 1,00,543.

A total of 78,80,545 doses of Covid-19 vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,23,25,02,767.

A total of 10,12,523 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
