India reported 5,784 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, 21.3 per cent lower than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.

This brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 3,47,03,644. Total recoveries were at 3,41,38,763 across the country. A total of 7,995 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is now at 98.37 per cent.

India’s active caseload stands at 88,993. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 2,463.

Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 2,434, followed by Tamil Nadu with 657 cases, Maharashtra with 569 cases, West Bengal with 418 cases and Mizoram with 320 cases.

These five states accounted for 76.04 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Tuesday, with Kerala alone responsible for 42.08 per cent of the fresh infections.

In the last 24 hours, 252 people succumbed to Covid-19, increasing the total reported death count to 4,75,888. Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (203), followed by Tamil Nadu with 12 daily deaths.

India conducted 9,90,482 tests during the previous day, according to the Health Ministry data.

A total of 66,98,601 doses were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,33,88,12,577.
