With the World Test Championship (WTC) final over, the time is perfect to shift our focus on India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.

The players are already in Mumbai and seems like a handful of them have also completed their 14-day hotel quarantine period.

BCCI on Thursday posted pictures of players including Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Krishnappa Gowtham, Chetan Sakariya, Varun Chakravarthy, and Nitish Rana and on Friday a video in which the young guns can be seen sweating it out in the gym session.

“I looked myself in the mirror many times before getting out of my room, felt really good in Indian cricket team jersey,” Rajasthan Royals pacer Chetan Sakariya said in the video.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Nitish Rana also talked about their feelings.

“Feels like a dream come true moment, was waiting for so many years,” said Gaikwad

A total of six new players have been added to the squad — Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Krishnappa Gowtham, Chetan Sakariya, Varun Chakravarthy, and Nitish Rana.

Senior opener Shikhar Dhawan will lead the side in the 6-white ball matches (3 ODIs and 3 T20Is). Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been appointed as the deputy of Dhawan for the short tour.

Notably, Virat Kohli-led Indian Test team is currently in England and are now gearing up for the 5-Test series versus England from August 4.
