Former England captain Kevin Pietersen said that he was not surprised by SunRisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) David Warner being dismissed by Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Anrich Nortje for a duck on Wednesday in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Warner was caught at point off the third ball of the first over of the match.

SRH went on to lose the match by eight wickets. Pietersen said that Nortje and his team mate Kagiso Rabada, both of whom are also the leading fast bowlers for South Africa, have figured out how to bowl to Warner. “Nortje and Rabada know how to bowl to David Warner. I think Rabada has knocked him over 4-5 times already. So they know and understand how to bowl to Warner. I am not surprised actually. I think this was a real tough game for Warner,” Pietersen said on Star Sports.

“He would have thought last night ‘Oh no, not Delhi Capitals. Not Rabada and Nortje. Not these two. Give me Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, somebody else and I am actually going to find a way’. These two know how to bowl to him and they knocked him over cheaply,” the former England batsman pointed out.

Warner, who has scored more than 500 runs in a single season for the past six consecutive seasons, has managed to score just 193 runs in his past seven innings at a strike rate of 108.42 this season in the IPL. He lost his captaincy to Kane Williamson before their last match ahead of the season in India and was also dropped for that game.
