NorthEast United placed themselves just a win away from qualification to the play-offs of the third edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) as they inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Delhi Dynamos at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday.

The result saw NorthEast (18 points from 13 matches) set up a virtual knockout match against Kerala Blasters (19 points from 13 matches) in both the teams’ final outings. NorthEast have to win while a draw would be enough for the Blasters to make the cut.

Seityasen Singh (60′) and Romaric (71′) were the scorers for the home side as Marcelinho was only able to net a consolation goal late in added time for the already qualified side.

Brief scores:

NorthEast United 2 (Seityasen Singh, Romaric) beat Delhi Dynamos 1 (Marcelinho)
