Kunal Kapoor is all set to produce his first film as a producer. The actor recently announced the launch of his production house and gave details about his maiden project as a producer. Kunal will bring the story of India’s Winter Olympian, Shiva Keshavan, to the screen. Shiva is known as India’s fastest man on ice.

KUNAL KAPOOR TO PRODUCE SHIVA KESHAVAN’S BIOPIC

Making the announcement on Instagram, Kunal Kapoor wrote that he has been inspired by Shiva Keshavan, a six-time Olympian and the first athlete to represent India at luge at the Winter Olympic Games, for many years.

He wrote, “Very happy to start my journey as a producer with the story of six time winter Olympian, the amazing @100thofasec A story that I’ve lived with and been inspired by for many years. A story that is not only about resilience and the path less taken, but also about the spirit of India. Our ability to reach for the impossible with limited resources #thefastestindian (sic).”

KUNAL KAPOOR ON TURNING PRODUCER

Kunal talked about bringing his own vision to life as a producer. In an interview with a leading daily, he said, “I’ve been writing stories since my days as an assistant director. And I would love to bring those stories to life not only as an actor, but also as a producer and director. As an actor, you have little control over what stories you get a chance to tell. You can only choose from what you are offered and you’re part of someone else’s vision. But as a producer, you have a chance to bring your own vision to life.”

Kunal further talked about choosing Shiva Keshavan’s biopic as his first him as a producer. The actor said, “He is an amazing athlete. What drew me to Shiva Keshavan was not only the fact that he has represented India in the Olympics six times, but that it was also a story about the spirit of India and the incredible things we manage to achieve with limited resources. It’s a story of resilience and the path less taken; it’s also a celebration of our culture and diversity.”

On the acting front, Kunal Kapoor will be seen playing Mughal emperor Babur in Nikkhil Advani’s The Empire. The web series will soon premiere on Disney+Hotstar.
