Maharashtra School Reopening will begin from today – December 1, 2021. As per the government guidelines, Primary schools for classes 1 to 7 have been allowed to reopen from today, except in Mumbai due to the fear of new variant. Details here.

  • Students of classes 1 to 7 would go back to schools in most areas, except in Mumbai as BMC has delayed the reopening to December 15, 2021.

Maharashtra School Reopening would begin for Primary classes from today – December 1, 2021. As per the orders from state government, schools for classes 1 to 7 would reopen from today in urban areas and for classes 1 to 4 in rural areas. To everyone’s surprise, this reopening would not be seen in Mumbai.  

Maharashtra Schools received the nod to reopen for Primary classes from the state government but the final decision was left to specific areas and their Municipal Corporations. As the final decision was supposed to be taken by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, BMC, the reopening got delayed to December 15, 2021 over the threat of new COVID variant, Omicron.  

The guidelines for schools reopening in the state were released on November 29, 2021. The announcement was also made via the official Twitter handle of state School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad.

Students must note that even though schools have been allowed to reopen, they must stay in touch with their schools and wait for an update from them. They must approach the campus, only when asked to and as per the plan of the school(s).  

Maharashtra School Reopening has only been allowed on the condition that COVID-19 safety protocols are followed by everyone at all times. School authorities have to ensure that there is a distance of at least 6 feet between two students and students are called in alternative batches.  

Regular sanitisation of school surroundings has been made mandatory and the authorities have been instructed to ensure that all their non-teaching staff is fully vaccinated. Meanwhile, it is advsied that everyone adopts their own safety measures as well and not break any rules.
